Helping clams find their voices

A reporter’s notebook is a scary thing. Flip one open in the face of a potential interviewee, and they suddenly forget how to speak. At least some are intimidated. I’d say most. If a cub reporter ever should seek my seasoned advice about how best to conduct interviews, I’d tell them to take notes on something unofficial-looking, like a junk mail envelope.
