Mother’s Day Lunch at Hope Center

The First United Methodist Church of Quitaque will have a fund raiser on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12. 2024 at the Hope Center from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The Methodist ladies, assisted by others, will serve their famous chicken fried steak with all the trimmings. Donations are requested.

FRIENDSHIP QUILTERS

We “girls” had another good time quilting Thursday and we got a good bit done on Carolyn’s quilt. It’s good to get out and be with friends, plus, we accomplished some while we visited.

Tim Kendall’s birthday is Sunday, April 28, but he was honored with a party in his home Saturday night, April 27. He was presented a decorated cake with all the trimmings. Those enjoying the happy occasion were his wife Melissa and parents, Linda and Travis Kendall of Flomot, Mr. and Mrs. Jere Kendall of Lubbock and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kendall, Gracie and Mason of Quitaque.

GUTHRIE OAP HONORS Guthrie High School’s One Act Play troupe competed Saturday at Frenship High School and, for only the second time in the school’s history, the play advanced to the State championship, to be held in Austin May 13. Individual honors Guthrie earned at Saturday night’s Regional competition were: Tech Crew Award, Mackenzie Gardner; Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, Nate Swaringen; All-Star Cast, Hallie Everson and Gus Smith; Best Performer, Kaleb Green.

Bob Will’s Day event winners announced

On Saturday morning on Turkey’s Main Street, a car show followed the parade, which was delayed by a few minutes to let brief rain showers blow over. The rest of the day was sunny and pleasant, making for a variety of outdoor activities throughout the town. | PHOTO BY HANABA MUNN WELCH
